What Is Family Constellations About?
It's a therapy based on healing your family system in order to break you free from the inherited traumas from previous generations that are still showing up in your present life. Parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents can leave you with unexplained depression, anxiety, fears, phobias, obsessive thoughts, repetitive patterns, and physical symptoms— this is what scientists are now calling “secondary PTSD.
What does it mean?
Just as we inherit our eye color and blood type, we also inherit the residue from traumatic events that have taken place in our family. While our physical traits are easily discernible, this emotional legacy is often hidden from us.
Anxiety, fear, financial worries, depression, illness, and unhappy relationships can all be forms of our unconscious inheritance. Unresolved traumas, some going back to two or three generations, keep us experiencing feelings and situations that don’t even belong to us. They can forge a blueprint for our life, and can even pass onto our children. It doesn’t have to continue. It can end here.
How does it work?
A Family Constellation can be set up for a group or individually. In a group, one person is chosen to do her/his constellation and the facilitation will serve the entire group because it will connect to the ancestral lineage of all.
The goal of any session is for the facilitator to accompany the elected participant to resolve or dissipate an issue that is showing up in her/his life.
In a group session, we will work with the persons present in the room to become what we called the Representatives of the family system of the elected participant.
In individual sessions, the participant will use different tools to be the Representatives of her/his family system.
